MetaHeritage is a two-year project funded by the European Innovation Council and the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EISMEA). It combines cutting-edge technologies with cultural heritage to create new business models and strengthen regional innovation ecosystems.
The project connects the value chain across regions at different development stages, including a less-developed region (Northern Portugal), an outermost region (Azores), three transitional regions (Thuringia, Saxony, and Galicia), and three more-developed regions (Emilia Romagna, Brussels, and Vienna). This inclusive approach ensures equal participation and targeted interventions, fostering sustainable heritage tourism – particularly in rural areas – while advancing digitisation and competitiveness across Europe.
MetaHeritage actively involves a wide range of stakeholders, including European clusters, heritage companies, destination management organisations, digital providers, research institutions, galleries, libraries, archives, museums, civil society groups, and public administrations.
EHH is a proud member of the consortium, which consists of 10 full and 5 associated partners, and will play a crucial role in the development of the project. It will actively participate in all seven WPs and lead WP5, where it will be responsible for crafting business cases for interregional innovation projects in tourism, developing replicable models, and identifying potential investors.
