At the heart of HERIT laid a groundbreaking initiative—an expansive Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) specially tailored for private historic house owners, managers and their employees. The course consisted of 4 modules centred around developing skills in cultural heritage management and the use of digital communication tools, while also encouraging the implementation of innovative solutions in cultural tourism, spanning both national and European levels. It was available for free in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Czech. 

European Historic Houses, embodying the very essence of the project’s beneficiaries, occupied a pivotal position in the MOOC’s development. The association undertook multifaceted responsibilities, including sourcing invaluable information and statistical insights from the private historic houses sphere. EHH also maintained an open line of communication with national historic house associations and private owners, ensuring the MOOC’s content remained aware of the sector’s needs.
