This prize aims to reward the spirit of sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship amongst young owners of historic houses. To participate, young historic property owners (under 45 years old) submit their project developing sustainable heritage in private ownership, which can be a commercial, educational, community or large-scale restoration project.
The competition builds on the important research project “Heritage Houses for Europe” which has been spearheaded by the European Historic Houses Association in partnership with ELO, IDEA Consult and funded by the European Parliament and the European Commission. The goal is to identify current trends and future solutions with regard to best practices in the management and preservation of family-owned built heritage.
After the 8th Annual NextGen Conference in Vienna in 2023, the prize was awarded to Jessica Flore Angel & the Chateau du Feÿ for the entrepreneurial spirit displayed in its renovation and development of the quintuple Feÿ projects linked to the domain.
Château du Feÿ, the winning historic house of the 2023 edition, has an ecosystem of ecological, social and artistic projects linked to the castle as its innovative entrepreneur project. The latter assembles five complementary structures including an international art festival, a community project for entrepreneurs and researchers to co-work, a non-profit organisation centred around natural and built heritage and others!
