Over two impactful days in Dublin, CHARTER Alliance brought together nearly 150 participants for the Irish National Stakeholders Day and the consortium’s General Meeting. Hosted by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, The Heritage Council, and the Office of Public Works, the events focused on advancing heritage skills and policy development.
Day one highlighted Ireland’s innovative heritage initiatives, including The Sean McDermott Street Magdalene Laundry, The Virtual Treasury, and the iCAN Irish Community Archives Network. Experts from education, practice, and industry discussed skills needs in the heritage sector, while group sessions tackled challenges such as climate adaptation and sustaining regional education. The day concluded with CHARTER’s regional case studies, offering insights from regions like the Basque Country and Tuscany, alongside reflections from the European Commission.
On day two, the consortium focused on project updates and planning for CHARTER’s final year. Stakeholder mapping exercises and policy workshops helped refine recommendations, while the Expert Advisory Board provided valuable feedback. The day ended with a visit to the City Assembly House to learn about the Digital Repository of Ireland and the Stone-Work research project.
These events fostered meaningful collaboration and provided a platform to advance CHARTER’s goals as it moves toward its final phase in 2024. Thank you to our hosts and all participants for making this gathering a success.
